Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians and members of the Obidient Movement to begin preparations to protect their votes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Online Reporters gathered that Obi made the appeal while addressing supporters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as part of efforts to mobilise support for the ADC.
His remarks were contained in a statement signed by the Obidient Movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko.
‘From Passion To Strategy’
According to Obi, the Obidient Movement must evolve beyond enthusiasm and transform into a more structured and strategic political force capable of securing electoral victory.
“The time has come to move from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory,” he said.
He stressed that the next election cycle must be driven by proper planning, organisation and unity among supporters across the country.
Warning Against 2023 Repeat
The former Anambra State governor also cautioned that the controversies and alleged irregularities that trailed the 2023 presidential election must not be repeated in 2027.
“We will not allow a repeat of what happened in the 2023 election,” Obi stated.
“In 2027, you will either count the votes correctly, or you will be counted. We must all be ready to defend our votes.”
Message To Akwa Ibom Supporters
Addressing supporters in Akwa Ibom, Obi said: “My dear brothers and sisters of the Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State, I bring you warm greetings and unwavering hope.”
The 2027 general elections are expected to draw significant political realignments and heightened mobilisation across party lines as major stakeholders intensify consultations nationwide.
